Quests

The new quest system – quest types, contracts from the board, the quest journal, the tracker and rewards.

Alongside the classic quests, Orelia has a modern quest system: stories told in chapters, choices that matter, varied objectives and a contract board with fresh jobs every day. Old quests keep working as before and show up in the same journal.

Quest types

  • Storythe main story in chains and chapters. Red NPC marker.
  • Side and group questsside tasks, some meant for parties.
  • Contractsfrom the contract board, renewed daily or weekly. Green NPC marker.
  • Daily and weekly questscan be taken again after the reset.
  • Guild and event questsonly for guild members, or only while an event runs.

Normal quests keep the familiar yellow marker above the NPC: ! for a new quest, a grey ? for one in progress, a ? for one you can turn in.

Objectives

A quest can have one or more objectives, sometimes in a fixed order:

  • talk to an NPC or hand over items
  • defeat monsters – for party objectives, nearby members count too
  • collect items – what counts is what is in your inventory right now
  • visit a place or a map
  • use objects or items
  • escort an NPC or protect it for a while
  • hold out for a set time
  • special events such as arena wins, item upgrades, dungeon clears or world bosses

Collection quests

If items leave your inventory, your progress drops as well. Keep them until you turn the quest in.

Some quests have a time limit. If it runs out, or an escort fails, the quest fails.

Escorts

The NPC waits at its starting point until you come close, then follows you. If it falls too far behind, it catches up on its own. Changing maps or moving too far away makes the escort fail. If you log out, the objective stays open – next time you log in, the NPC is back at your side.

Working with NPCs

Every NPC with quests for you gets a Quests menu entry. It opens a quest window with a list and a quest card: accept, turn in, talk about the quest or hand over items. Dialog stays the normal conversation.

Choices

Some quests let you pick an answer when you turn them in. Your choice can decide which quest comes next and which reward you get. The journal marks which rewards belong to which choice.

The contract board

A contract board NPC opens the contract board window directly. Contracts come in several tiers: daily, weekly, elite, rare, event and guild.

  1. Open the board – via Dialog or Quests at the NPC.
  2. Pick a contract – each one shows its objectives with exact counts and its reward.
  3. Accept – you need to be near the board.
  4. Complete and turn in – at the board or at the NPC it names.
  • Offers change daily or weekly and are the same on every channel.
  • You can accept each offer once, and there is a maximum number of contracts per day and per week. The board shows how many you have taken and when the next reset is.
  • Some contracts roll a random count – a higher count also means a bigger reward.
  • Event contracts only appear while an event is running, guild contracts only for guild members.

Journal and tracker

Open the quest journal with the same key as before. It lists all quests – old and new – grouped by chain and category, with search and filters (Active, Ready, Contracts, Completed, All). For each quest you see:

  • chapter, quest giver and turn-in NPC, optionally on the map
  • time limit and whether the quest is repeatable
  • objectives with progress bars
  • rewards with icons

Track puts a quest into the tracker, which you can move and collapse. Show on map shows the destination, Abandon drops the quest (not possible for some quests). Objectives with a location also set the destination arrow.

Small pop-ups and chat messages tell you when you accept a quest, make progress, finish an objective, can turn the quest in, or fail it.

Rewards

Depending on the quest you can earn:

  • EXP and Penya
  • items
  • quest points and contract points
  • reputation
  • Guild XP for your guild
  • skill levels or stat points
  • unlocks for further quests

Make room first

Items are granted all or nothing. If your inventory cannot hold every reward, you can only turn the quest in once you have made room.

Every completed quest also counts as contribution for your guild.
