SoX – blessed items
Rare drops can be blessed by a god of Madrigal – stronger base stats, bonus lines and a glowing frame. Plus named monsters with special loot.
Normal equipment is still the backbone on Orelia. But with a bit of luck, the very same item drops blessed – touched by one of the gods of Madrigal. The idea comes from the SoX items of Silkroad.
The blessing tiers
A blessed item carries its god’s name as a prefix, in the colour of its tier. Currently, for example:
- Bubble’stier 1, e.g. Bubble’s Ancient Bow. Rare, slightly better base stats, 0–2 bonus lines.
- Shade’stier 2, e.g. Shade’s Bloody Axe. Very rare, clearly better, 1–3 bonus lines, glows.
- Iblis’tier 3, e.g. Iblis’ Vampire Sword. The real chase loot: 3–4 bonus lines, one fixed line, a strong glow.
There can be up to five tiers in total.
What a blessing gives you
- Name – the prefix in the tier colour shows up everywhere the item name does: tooltip, inventory search, drop log, on the ground, in chat and in the Auction House.
- Tooltip – its own section, e.g. “Shade’s blessing”, lists the base bonus and the bonus lines.
- Stronger base stats – a percentage bonus on base attack (weapons) or base defense (armour). You see it directly in your damage, defense, the tooltip and the equipment comparison.
- Bonus lines – extra stats that apply while you wear the item.
- Frame and glow – the icon in your inventory and equipment slots gets a pulsing frame in the tier colour.
Everything else stays the same
Upgrading, elements, piercing and awakening work as usual and stack on top. A blessed item can be awakened normally – awake lines and blessing lines are independent of each other.
Where blessed items come from
- Monsters: a weapon, armour piece or piece of jewellery a monster drops anyway can turn out blessed. Some monsters also roll once per kill for a blessed item of their own.
- Named monsters: special enemies with their own chances (see below).
- World bosses: every participant who earns a reward rolls separately – the top damage ranks get a bonus. See world bosses.
Drop-rate bonuses from buffs or events raise your blessing chances too, currently up to three times.
Named monsters
Sometimes a perfectly normal respawn turns into a named monster, such as “Blood Burudeng”. You recognise it by its own name in its own colour, and by its larger size. It has:
- more HP, attack and defense
- more EXP
- extra drop rolls and its own blessing chances
Everyone on the map can see it. Depending on the monster, its appearance and death are announced in chat.
Announcements
When someone finds a blessed item, it can be announced – depending on the tier – on the channel, on all channels, or on Discord as well.
Trading and binding
Depending on the tier, blessed items can come with restrictions, for example on trading, your own shop, mail, the Auction House, the guild bank, another character’s bank, selling to NPCs, dropping or destroying. If something is not allowed, the game refuses with a notice. Your own bank always works.
Some tiers bind the item to your character when you pick it up or when you first equip it.
Conversions
Ultimate and gender change
If you turn a blessed weapon into an Ultimate weapon, or change armour to the other gender, the blessing is kept with a certain chance – the bonus lines stay the same or are rerolled. Recycling destroys the item, so the blessing is gone.
