Account security
What you should know about passwords, remembered logins and sessions on Orelia – so your account stays yours.
Orelia uses a modern login system. Your password is sent encrypted and stored safely on the server. A few things are still up to you – here is what matters.
A good password
- It must currently be at least 10 characters long.
- It must not be your account name.
- Length beats special characters: a long phrase of several words is safer than a short “Aa1!”.
- Use a password for Orelia that you do not use anywhere else.
Passphrase
Think of something easy to remember, such as four random words in a row. That is long, hard to guess and still easy to type.
Older accounts: one new password
If your account dates from before the new login system, the game (or the Launcher) asks you for a new password the first time you log in. Enter your current password and the new one twice. After that your account is switched to the new system.
Too many failed attempts
Mistype your password several times and you are locked out for a short while – and the lock gets longer the more often it happens. Currently:

This stops anyone from trying password after password on your account. If you have forgotten your password, more guessing will not help.
Remembered passwords and quick login
Both the Launcher and the account list in the game’s login window can save your password.
- Optionalin the Launcher, “remember password” is set per account and is off by default.
- Tied to your PCa remembered password is bound to your Windows user account. On another PC or under another Windows account the saved data is useless.
- No plain textolder, unprotected entries are no longer used. Type your password once more and it is stored protected from then on.
- Stopped working?the Launcher deletes a remembered password that no longer works.
Shared computers
If other people use the same PC with your Windows account, leave “remember password” off.
Sessions and logging out
- When you start from the Launcher, it hands your login to the game directly and securely. You do not have to type your password again in game.
- Back in character select logs you out completely. After that you need your password again or a new start from the Launcher.
- The same account cannot be logged in twice at the same time.
- If you changed your password on the website, use Neu anmelden … (Log in again) on that account in the Launcher.
Maintenance
During maintenance no new logins are possible. That is not a problem with your account – just try again once maintenance is over.
