Monster Mastery

Every kill counts for your whole account – defeat a monster type often enough and you get stronger against it, plus permanent stats.

Every monster type has a mastery. The more often you defeat a type, the higher your mastery tier climbs – and every tier gives you bonuses. Kills from all characters on your account add up together.

How kills are counted

  • The last hit counts. Depending on the settings, kills can also count for party members nearby on the same map.
  • Kills on different channels and with different characters all add up.
  • Monsters far below your level may not count.
  • Not every monster has a mastery – only real enemies that give EXP.

You get a notice when you reach a new tier.

What a tier gives you

  • Damageyou deal more damage to this monster type.
  • Defencethis monster type deals less damage to you.
  • Dropsa higher chance for item drops from this type.
  • EXPmore experience for kills of this type.
  • Statssome tiers give stats like STR or all stats – for your whole account.

Bonuses against a monster only apply to that exact type. Stat bonuses from all your mastered monsters are added up and apply to every one of your characters. Every bonus type has a cap.

Equalized mode

In equalized mode the mastery stat bonuses are switched off. They come back as soon as you leave it.

The Mastery window

Open it with /mastery, the Mastery… button in the Monster Album or the start menu. It has two tabs:

  1. Monsters – search, an “only with kills” filter and a list with level, kills and a tier bar. Select a monster to see all its tiers and what they give.
  2. Bonuses – your mastered monsters, their tiers, your account-wide stats and the caps.

Tip

Mastery pays off twice: some badges ask you to bring monsters to a certain tier.
